Pandora Lovegood (nee Rosier) is the mother of Luna Lovegood, who died in an explosion caused by her experimentation when her only daughter was 9 years old.

Biography

Early Years (1961-1972)

Pandora was born into the Rosier family, a noble Pure-blood family in Ireland. She had a younger brother, Evan Rosier, who was two years younger than her. She expressed an interest in potion-making at a very young age, and at age 8, she successfully brewed a medicine to temporarily help those who had fallen ill.

Hogwarts Years (1972-1979)

Pandora received her Hogwarts letter in 1972. Like most wizards, witches, and witches, she headed to Diagon Alley and likely bought her first wand at Ollivanders. She boarded the Hogwarts Express in 1972 with her sister and was overly enthusiastic about it, apparently weirding some people out.

She met fellow first-year Regulus Black in a compartment and wouldn't leave him alone, even though he repeatedly said he wasn't interested in small talk. The two eventually became friends after a few years of Pandora never leaving Regulus alone, and together they came up with many spells. They became known at Hogwarts for being an odd pair.

Pandora was made a prefect in her fifth year, in hopes that she would quit getting into trouble with such responsibility. It worked for a few months until she was back to blowing up cauldrons.

Marrying Xenophilius Lovegood

In 1980, Pandora married a half-blood wizardXenophilius, who was her former classmate from Hogwarts years however her parents disapproved of her marrying Lovegood but Pandora did not care much about their option, so they married secretly when she told her parents about the wedding, they were furious and angry but Pandora didn't care about their opinion and decided to move out her family house the next day. Xenophilius told her that he had bought a house from them already, and Pandora was happy.

First Wizarding War and Evan Rosier's death

During the First Wizarding War, the Death Eaters were fiercely pursued by Aurors. Her brother was eventually caught by the famous Auror Alastor Moody. The two resisted arrest, her brother even blasting a significant part of Moody's nose off during their duel. Moody defeated and killed him.

Pandora found out about the news from the Daily Prophet a week later and was devastated.

Relationships

Family:

Parents

It is unknown what her relationship was with her parents. However, according to her daughter, her grandparents disowned her mother right after she moved out of her family home.

Siblings:

Evan Rosier

Pandora and Evan's relationship was very close during their childhood when they joined Hogwarts. They were sorted into different houses, and they were suddenly distanced from each other. Evan joined his house, Slytherin's gang, and later the Death Eaters group, which her sister disapproved of and was disappointed in him.

Children:

Luna Lovegood

She married a half-blood wizard, Xenophilius Lovegood, and had one daughter named Luna. Of course, her parents did not approve of her marrying a half-blood and poor editor; however, despite everything, Pandora didn't care about their opinions, and after the wedding, she moved out of her parents' home. Pandora and her husband moved to near the village of Ottery St. Catchpole a black-coloured cylindrical house on top of a hill with a stream at the base of it. At an unknown time, they had a daughter named Luna.

Friends:

Regulus Black

The two met at the Hogwarts Express in 1972, the year the two of them were going to be sorted. Regulus was reading a book on his own in a compartment, and Pandora was bombarded inside to get to know him. Somehow, the two became the best of friends even though Regulus was a Slytherin and Pandora a Ravenclaw. Their duo seemed quite bizarre to some people, but to them, it was just normal. Many rumors were going around in their fourth year that they were dating, although both of them denied those rumors, saying that they were only ever really good friends. Xenophilius seems to know about Pandora's friendship with Regulus, although it is never mentioned to Luna.

Physical appearance

Pandora, like all Evergreens, possessed bright green eyes. No matter who anyone married, it was as if the child would always turn out with green eyes. That changed with the arrival of Luna Lovegood in 1981, who had grey eyes.

Possessions

  • Wand: Like most witches, wizards, and waxes, Pandora owned a wand which she used to conjure many spells and charms during her years. She even created her own spells with the same wand. The wand would later be given to her child, Luna, by Xenophilius after her early demise. The wand was sadly destroyed in 1996 by Death Eaters when Luna was captured.
  • Notebook: Pandora's notebook was filled with her own creations and beliefs. It was mostly shared with her friend with the help of the Replicating Charm that the two created.

Magical abilities and skills

Pandora Lovegood was described as being an extraordinary witch by her child, Luna, implying she was very talented, skilled, and creative in terms of her magical abilities.

  • Spell creation: Pandora was noted to enjoy experimenting with and inventing new spells, showing she was a powerful witch in her own right, as spell creation requires immense magical knowledge and skill. However, one of her experimental spells one day backfired and accidentally killed her. She created the Time-Lock Charm used by Apollo Lind with her friend Regulus Black.
